Women take on the packing when moving home

New research has revealed that women are more likely to take charge of packing for a house move, but men will lead when it comes to arranging finances with the estate agent, mortgage company and insurers.

Confused.com revealed that 54 per cent of ladies will sort items into boxes and wrap up plates before loading them into a removal van.

A similar number of men (52 per cent) said that they take care of the finances, with just 42 per cent of women claiming the same responsibility.

For exactly half of couples the decision to move house is a joint decision, with this being more common as we get older.

Confused.com said that 55 per cent of over-55s will move because both parties are willing to do so, while just 40 per cent of 16 to 24-year-olds said the same - with some relocating for work and others to be closer to other family members.

"If you're deciding to move home or are in the process of moving, it's important to involve your partner in all steps along the way - this way you can share the workload and enjoy the experience together," said head of household services at the organisation, Kate Rose.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801598413-ADNFCR
