Winchester: A historic hub suited to family life

Winchester: A historic hub suited to family life

Families who are looking to move house will need good access to certain amenities that perhaps those without children will not consider as important.

Educational facilities in the area will obviously rank high on the ‘must-have’ list for parents that are relocating to a new town or region.

If this is a priority for you and your family, then property for sale in Winchester may be a good place to start the search for your new residence.

The Hampshire town has a fantastic school system that offers a wide variety when choosing an establishment in which to educate your children.

There are 17 different primary schools in the area and a further three secondary schools for older children. Education past this point is also available with one of the region's top sixth form colleges - the Peter Symonds College.

Two Sundays a month Winchester hosts the UK’s largest farmer's market. Such an event allows parents to purchase local produce for their kids and it can also be a good way to educate younger children about the importance of fresh food and where it comes from.

Winchester, and its surrounding area, is home to a number of activities that are perfect for entertaining the kids at the weekend. The River Park Leisure Centre is fully equipped to keep the kids fit and active, whereas the Everyman Cinema is a great place to unwind by taking in the film.

Marwell Wildlife is also located close by and it gives children a chance to get up close to the natural world by seeing some of their favourite animals.

Another pleasant feature of the former capital of England is its beautifully maintained architecture. The word-famous Winchester Cathedral has stood in place for over 900 years and remains one of the most fascinating historical attractions in the area to this day.

History buffs will also be excited to know that the town contains King Arthur's Round Table. This legendary piece of furniture is a striking feature that is located in the last remaining part of the Winchester Castle - The Great Hall.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801682956-ADNFCR
