Will property for sale in Uckfield receive a boost from rail investment?

A new rail link from Uckfield to Lewes and London has received crucial backing from a transport minister.

Property for sale in Uckfield could increase in value, if plans to re-instate the line are accepted.

Lewes MP Norman Baker told the Sussex Express that re-introducing the line would complement work already being undertaken with Network Rail by the government.

He added that he hoped part of this project would "drive costs down and mean that the reinstatement cost of a line such as Lewes Uckfield per mile would be less than has generally been quoted".

A new £6.34 million housing scheme recently opened in Uckfield, providing 39 new apartments.

The new flats are intended to enable older people to live in their own homes with support. The whole project has been named after former Wealden District councillor Margaret Kirkpatrick.

Uckfield is a small town nearby to Brighton and Lewes that has a well-established, community feel. It boasts one of the oldest cinemas in the country and has great facilities, including leisure centres, golf courses and plenty of shops.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800637642-ADNFCR
