Wickford is an ideal commute

Wickford is an ideal commute

Just 40 minutes away from London, Wickford is an ideal location for people working in the capital who don't want to live there. Situated in Essex, it has a population of more than 32,500 and is a popular commuter town.

People looking for property for sale in Wickford may enjoy its small town vibe and will also be able to take advantage of many local amenities. These include a swimming pool, a library, an open-air market and a community centre within walking distance of the town centre.

Wickford has a rich history, with many believing it was inhabited in prehistoric times by a tribe of Britons called Trinobantes. The name Wickford itself is derived from Saxon, with Wic meaning 'a village' and Ford being 'a shallow river crossing'.

In the Middle Ages, Wickford was more commonly known as Wiceford, Wygeford or other similar names, and is referenced in the Domesday Book as such.

Wickford is the ideal place to bring up a young family. One of its biggest attractions is Wick Country Park, which consists of  50 acres of former agricultural land, with more than 2 km of easily accessible trails around the site.

There are big plans to expand Wickford in the future, with proposals to expand the amount of residential space to accommodate for the rising interest in the area. It is also hoped that links to some of the locals town will be improved over the next few years, to provide greater accessibility for local residents.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801776153-ADNFCR
