Vibrant Gillingham - the commuter’s choice?

Vibrant Gillingham - the commuter’s choice?

Lying only 35 miles southeast of London, Gillingham could be the ideal location for commuters. The town offers a blend of history and modernity, all within a short distance of the picturesque Kent coast.

Mentioned in the 11th century Doomsday book, the town now has over 100,000 residents. It boasts a popular retail centre and a vibrant and bustling street market on Mondays and Saturdays.

The town has great road links to the rest of the south-east and beyond via the A2 and M2, coupled with an excellent railway service, taking less than an hour and a quarter to London Waterloo.

The local Royal Engineers Museum provides an insight into the history of the Corps of Royal Engineers as well as British engineering in general. The museum has a vast collection of objects, including the world’s first useable guided torpedo, a huge piece of the Berlin Wall, a Harrier Jump Jet and an enormous V2 Rocket. There is even a picnic area and children’s playground.

For those looking for sporting activities, Medway Park offers a six-lane swimming pool, an athletics track, sports hall, gym, dance studio and judo centre. Gillingham Football Club is the most successful in county, being the only Kentish team in the football league. ‘The Gills’ play their football at the 11,500 spectator capacity Priestfield Stadium. The club currently plays in League One.

There is a real range of property for sale in Gillingham, with a choice of homes available offering great value for money. ADNFCR-1222-ID-801824467-ADNFCR
