Things look on the up in Uppingham

Families looking for property for sale in Uppingham can rest easy as this is an area synonymous with excellent schools.

The renowned Uppingham Boarding School was founded in this market town way back in 1584. Since then it has developed a glowing reputation and has been praised in Ofsted reports. The school is for boys and girls aged 13 to 18 and almost all of the 795 pupils are boarders. This is not the only choice, however, as Uppingham Community College is also well thought-of.

Uppingham also benefits greatly from its location in the quaint county of Rutland. This means it is set amongst beautiful villages, rolling hills and traditional shops and pubs. A fine example of the latter is the stone-clad Vaults on Market Place, a superb backdrop for a few weekend drinks and a spot of food.

There is also the nearby Rutland Water, the largest inland lake in the country, to offer a little more eye candy for visitors and residents.

Meanwhile, the Halifax Rural Quality of Life Survey for 2015 suggested that living in the county of Rutland was actually good for you. The research placed the town as the best rural place to live in Britain thanks to its low crime, high weekly incomes and the good health of its residents.

The town is also riding the euphoric wave for nearby Leicester since the latter’s Premier League triumph. With Leicester being just over half an hour down the A47 away, it is a doddle to pop into the city and take advantage of its growing reputation for shopping and night life. The High Cross centre is a must for those making this short trip, as it is packed full of premium outlets and eateries. Peterborough, meanwhile, is also just 25 minutes away, again on that handy A47.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801822878-ADNFCR
