The beautiful village of Earls Colne

The beautiful village of Earls Colne

Perfect for commuters to nearby Colchester and Braintree, the pretty little village of Earls Colne is an ideal location for people looking for rural peace and quiet.

Despite a relatively small community of 5,000 residents, there is plenty to do.  The village has a well-equipped leisure centre and two fine golf courses.  The surrounding countryside offers lots of lovely walks, including the Colne Valley Path and the Essex Way.

There are two pubs, a library, surgery, hairdressers, several takeways and a range of small retailers, offering a vibrant centre to the village.  There is usually a choice of property for sale in Earls Colne, with many dating back to the 17th and 18th century.  The Earls Colne Heritage Museum tells the story of the village through the ages and recently welcomed its 6,000th visitor.

If you are looking to make some local friends, then the Earls Colne Allotment Association Committee is very active.  The allotments offer the choice of growing your own fruit, vegetables and flowers, a real taste of the good life.  Make sure that you join the waiting list as soon as you can, as the plots are very much in demand with local residents.

Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery was rated as ‘Good’ in its last Ofsted inspection and welcomes children from the village and surrounding area.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801826184-ADNFCR
