The English Riviera offers ideal location

The seaside town of Torquay could be the perfect destination for anyone looking for a home in a delightful part of the UK.

Nicknamed the English Riviera, there is a wide range of property for sale in Torquay to suit the majority of budgets, as well as appealing to those looking for coast living.

There are 19 beaches in the area, which cover more than 22 miles of coastline and many of them have been awarded high accolades for water quality.

Traditionally seen as a place to enjoy retirement, Torquay has developed a more extreme sport profile in recent years.  It is an ideal location for anyone who enjoys kitesurfing, windsurfing and ocean kayaking. Other popular activities on offer include diving, sailing, angling and swimming.

Nightlife is also one of Torquay's key attractions and there are plenty of restaurants and bars that will appeal to residents and tourists.

There are a number of local attractions that are ideal for families, such as Kents Cavern, Living Coast, the Princess Theatre and Babbacombe Model Village.

For anyone interested in learning more about the local area, then it may be worth visiting the Torquay Museum. One of the oldest museums in Devon and revamped in 2013, it has many artefacts that re-tell the town's history, as well as items related to crime author Agatha Christie.

Visitors have the chance to step in to Poirot’s study and lounge, which includes furniture, books, pictures and even fireplaces from the detective's beautiful London Art Deco apartment.

Good transport links also mean that Torquay is well-placed for when family and friends come to visit, as well as being ideal for taking day trips to surrounding areas, including Plymouth, Exeter, Totnes and Dartmouth.

Torquay has two main railway stations with regular services to the rest of the UK. The town is also a short drive from the M5 in Exeter.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801742013-ADNFCR
