Tenants should talk to landlords over rental arrears

People who are living in buy-to-let properties and are struggling with their finances, and paying rent as a result should talk to their landlords and make sure that they can work through their problems.

According to an expert, most landlords do not want to get rid of a tenant if they do not have to, as it can cost them more in the long run.

Richard Lambert, chief executive of the National Landlords' Association, said: "One thing I would say is that no business likes to lose a good customer and as far as possible, landlords try to keep tenancies going as long as they can - if they have got a tenant they are happy with."

Many of the problems financially that people have at the moment come from the fact that the growth in wages does not match the inflation rate in general.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801465431-ADNFCR
