Taylor Wimpey announces rise in orders for new house builds

There has been some good news for the property industry recently as housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has reported a 73 per cent rise in orders.

This means there could be plenty of new properties available on the market next year as the company's orders currently stand at £971 million.

In comparison, figures at the end of 2008 were £562 million.

Taylor Wimpey claims that despite previous predictions about the worsening state of the property market, it appears to be stabilising.

Furthermore, the company is considering purchasing more land and it expects to see a rise in the average selling price of completed properties by the end of the year.

The firm said that although the economy remains weak and levels of unemployment continue to rise, "the severe downside scenarios for which we have been planning now appear less likely to materialise".

This news supports a claim made by Assetz earlier this week that opportunities in the property market are never going to be better than they are at the moment.
