Tavistock could be perfect for relocators

Tavistock could be perfect for relocators

Earlier this year a national Sunday newspaper noted Tavistock as one of the best places to live in the country.

It is easy to see why. The market town has a superb mix of old and new, the quaint and the cutting edge.

Take Tavistock’s shopping for example. Go for a walk down the High Street and you will find a combination of bohemian independent stores and well-known chain outlets. This extends to food, with supermarkets nestling side by side with local butchery and greengrocers.

It would be wise to consider buying property for sale in Tavistock if you are looking for a slightly slower pace of life in contrast to the big cities. This is a cosy small town replete with genuine village pubs, restaurants serving locally-sourced food and a real sense that everyone knows each other.

Despite that, there is still plenty going on to keep residents and visitors young and old amused and entertained.

The Goose Fair is a must and a real date in the social calendar when it takes place on the second Wednesday of every October. The Wharfs Arts Centre, meanwhile, provides entertainment on a more regular basis, as does the Meadowlands Leisure Pool.

Just in case you still want more, Plymouth is just a 30-minute drive away, while a short trip into Devon or Cornwall will bring beautiful clear waters and soft sand.

Families making the move to Tavistock will find well thought-of schools. Of the three local primaries, Whitchurch Community can boast a very good Ofsted report, while Tavistock College is found just south of the town centre and it provides a range of courses for older members of the family.

The property found throughout this part of the country is also achingly-pretty, as the town is blessed with beautiful chocolate box cottage and period houses galore.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801822875-ADNFCR
