Survey indicates further buyer interest rise

Interest in buying homes is continuing to rise, a new survey has found.

In its latest house price survey, Rightmove.co.uk revealed that the number of fresh enquiries has been 120 per cent higher this month than in the same period of 2008.

This has included not just those looking to buy as owner-occupiers, but also property investors, the portal noted.

It explained that the reason for this is that the returns available from rents are greater than those that can be gained by other investments.

Agents are also reporting a lower rate of sales falling through, Rightmove.co.uk revealed.

The finding that there is more demand for homes matches that of other research, such as the most recent study by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

It found that the number of new enquiries in February represented the highest month-on-month increase since August 2006.
