Suffolk's Stowmarket offers great rural living

The market town of Stowmarket is continuing to attract people looking for something a little bit special and unique.

Located in Suffolk, the town has around 19,000 residents and has a great community spirit, as well as offering peace and quiet.

Property for sale in Stowmarket will particularly appeal to potential homeowners looking for somewhere with a bustling but traditional shopping experience. The Stowmarket high street hosts a bi-weekly market that offers a real mix of goods, including many produced and grown locally.

It has undergone some development in recent years with the creation of new homes at the northern end of the town. However, Stowmarket still retains its charm and has a number of listed buildings that are typical of Suffolk's towns and villages.

The Museum of East Anglian Life is just a few minutes away from the centre of Stowmarket. Set within 75 acres, the museum is home to a number of historic buildings which has been relocated to the site, as well as offering exhibition galleries, rare breeds of animals, picnic sites, a gift shop and a cage.

Visitors can also take an interesting walk alongside the river or wander around the grand Abbots Hall, which dates back to 1709 and is regarded as Stowmarket’s manor house.

One of the highlights of the year is the Stow-Fest event. A must for nearby residents, the festival attractions a whole host of music acts - from the national and local scene.

This year's Stow-Fest will take place on 20th and 21st June and will feature 13 acts chosen from more than 100 applicants. In 2013, the event was headlined by Rhys Butterworth Bowman, Junk Shop Poets and Simeon Pattison.

Families will also be interested in the annual Stowmarket carnival which happens in the middle of July. The event brings together the community and involves fireworks, a dog show and a parade of floats through the centre of the town.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801697639-ADNFCR
