Strong demand for houses for sale in London and the south-east

Prime property for sale in London and the south-east has boosted average house prices, according to latest index from LSL Property Services and Acadametrics.

House prices rose by 0.3 per cent in Feburary, the index has revealed, with the national average house price now standing at £222,456.

The price of houses for sale in London has risen by five per cent over the past 12 months to an average value of £385,386.

Property for sale in London is now worth significantly more than it was during the previous property boom in 2007/8.

In addition, demand for flats for sale in London is on the rise, with apartment purchases accounting for 51 per cent of all deals between November 2010 and January 2011.

Purchases of flats for sale in London also made up more than 38 per cent of the overall apartment sales in England and Wales during this period.

People investing in houses for sale in London should ensure a survey is carried out on their future home.
