South-east's Stowmarket may fit the bill

South-east's Stowmarket may fit the bill

Anyone looking for a quiet and attractive town to live in may want to consider the south-east town of Stowmarket.

Close to Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, the town has a population of around 19,000 people and is developing into a key location for families wanting to enjoy a more sedate pace of life.

"Even though it is growing in size and population Stowmarket still hasn’t lost its charm, with a variety of listed buildings, typical of Suffolk's towns and villages," explains the Stowmarket Town Council's website.

Families looking for property for sale in Stowmarket will be tempted by the town's wide range of high-quality facilities.

The location is surrounded by a number of green areas and wooded places, all of which can make it the perfect location to head to for people who may be a little older but still want to stay active or families hoping to wear the children out.

During the warmer months, there are also some lovely nature trails that are a great excuse to spend some quality time with the family.

One of the other advantages of Stowmarket is that it does indeed have a regular market. Taking place on Thursday and Saturday, these events provide a great opportunity to buy some local produce, as well as enjoy a friendly chat with fellow residents.

Other ways to get to know people feature on Stowmarket's calendar of events, including Stow-Fest, a music festival which welcomes a number of local and national bands each year.

In May, the town holds the relatively new Stowblues, which celebrates the genre of music by showcasing performances from East Anglian musicians, as well as those from further afield.

Tickets for many of Stowmarket's large events can be purchased via the town's tourist information centre, which is located at the front of the Museum of East Anglian Life.
