South-east 'has many positives'

South-east 'has many positives'

Low crime, high employment, good schools and better health have been cited as the main reasons the south-east is an attractive place to live.

The region, which boasts seaside town Brighton among its most famous resorts, has been hailed by Brighton and Hove Family Homes director Charlie Snell as one of the best locations in the country.

As well as its social welfare advantages, Mr Snell believed "intangible" differences, including the weather, also give homeowners here greater satisfaction.

Among the towns singled out for particular praise is Brighton.

Mr Snell said: "I think this is to do with the fact that it has all the attractions of a city while also being by the sea and the carefree attitude that being by the sea engenders."

Figures obtained by visitbrighton.com in 2007 found the town to be the 'Green Capital' of Britain, with residents spending more on environmentally conscious products than any other city.ADNFCR-1222-ID-18623943-ADNFCR
