Somerset ideal for travellers

People looking for an idyllic base in the UK may want to consider the Somerset market town of Bridgwater.

Property for sale in Bridgwater has the benefit of being well-placed for those who travel on a regular basis.

The picturesque town is not far from the M5 and is an easy drive from Exeter and up to the Midlands, as well as being convenient for day trips to the coast.

Bridgwater train station also offers regular services to stations along the Bristol to Exeter line.

For those who want to put down more permanent roots, Bridgwater has a lot to offer those with young children.

In terms of education, the town was one of the first in the UK to be selected as one of the government's sites for Building Schools for the Future – meaning local education provision will be at the cutting-edge.

There are also plenty of events held every year in Bridgwater that help to foster a great community spirit.

One of the highlights for the residents and visitors is the annual Guy Fawkes festival, which welcomes in around 150,000 people from across Europe. It is a carnival event with lots of floats, music and food plus 'squibbing'.

This is unique to the town but involves around 150 people letting off large fireworks all at the same time and marks the end of the carnival - the effect is very impressive.

Another not to be missed event is the popular Bridgwater Fair. This is thought to be the second largest temporary funfair in the UK and will appeal to children, as well as adults.

Bridgwater is also close to the Haynes Motor Museum, which houses around 400 vehicles - ranging from classics to cutting-edge high-tech supercars.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801741990-ADNFCR
