Some tenants feel ‘pressured’ into rental agreement

Many tenants feel they were rushed into agreeing into their tenancy agreement, according to a new survey.

A poll by Ocean Finance found 27 per cent of renters feel they rushed into signing and over 50 per cent regretted their decision in the long-term.

With strong competition in the renting market, many people are keen to make sure their secure somewhere to live. The research found eight per cent of renters signed the tenancy contract on the day they first viewed the property.

One in ten renters took two to three days before signing the agreement, with a similar number taking up to seven days.

“Our figures demonstrate just how hard it is to rent a property across much of the UK. The best properties are often snapped up within hours or even minutes. As a result, would be tenants feel under pressure to sign quickly to secure the property,” said Ian Williams, Ocean’s spokesperson.

He added: “Sadly, half of those go on to regret their haste, finding themselves in a home that they don’t like or which doesn’t suit them.”ADNFCR-1222-ID-801823927-ADNFCR
