Sellers confidence sees April prices hit a new high

The confidence seen by sellers across the UK has seen the price of purchasing properties through estate agents hit a new high in April.

According to the latest report released by Rightmove, the cost of purchasing a home in the month has gone up by 2.1 per cent already to allow those looking to move to ask for the highest prices for this time of year in history at £244,706.

This means that the price of property has gone up by more than £15,000 on average since the start of the year already, with the confidence created by Funding for Lending likely to be a large contributing factor.

The news also comes after it was reported by Halifax last week that the majority of people across the UK are now expecting to see the cost of homes going up across the course of the coming 12 months.

"Real incomes are already starting to recover, mortgages are becoming more readily available, and homes are more affordable as the house price to earnings ratio continues to fall," said Peter Spencer, chief economic adviser to the Item Club.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801571332-ADNFCR
