Sedgley: Ideal for commuters

Families looking to enjoy an attractive location that still offers good commuting links should consider the West Midlands town of Sedgley.

Home to around 11,000 people, the town has regular bus services to larger areas and cities such as Dudley, Wolverhampton and Birmingham so workers will have no trouble making the daily trip to the office.

There is plenty of property for sale in Sedgley that will appeal to families looking to escape to a more sedate way of life and parents will be attracted by the large number of primary schools in the region, including Queen Victoria Primary School, Cotwald End, Alder Coppice, St Chad's and Strait.

There are also nearby secondary schools - Dormston and High Arcal - which will suit older children. Of course, any parents locating to the area are advised to get in contact with the schools to take a tour or find out when the next open day is taking place.

In terms of leisure, the village is home to a supermarket, as well as a number of smaller independent retailers and a good choice of pubs and restaurants makes it an enjoyable place to spend an evening.

One of the features of Sedgley is the Baggeridge Country Park, which is offers visitors a cafe, a mini railway and a children's play area, as well as a stunning aerial rope course for the more adventurous residents.

The park was originally part of the Baggeridge Colliery and the original Himley Estate of the Earls of Dudley but in recent years has been transformed into 150 acres of lovely green spaces and woodland. It has been awarded a national green flag award for the 13th consecutive year and is perfect for a sunny day.

For walkers and ramblers, there is always Sedgley Beacon to explore - one of the highest point in the West Midlands, is a great place to head for a family day out and do some fossil hunting.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801698022-ADNFCR
