Schools influence home buying needs

Being close to a good school is the top priority for parents looking for a new home.

Research from Redrow Homes shows 72 per cent of those with children believed being near good schooling options was an important factor, followed by 37 per cent wanting good transport links and 33 per cent hoping for a strong community.

Children had a different set of priorities, with 60 per cent wanting to live near friends, followed by 49 per cent who want to be close to their school and 17 per cent felt being within a short distance of a cinema.

Dave Bexon, for Redrow Homes, said: "We were keen to uncover what people feel makes a better way to live.

"Priorities can change over time, so conducting independent research such as this helps us to ensure we continue to build the types of homes people really want.

"Families are one of our key market segments, so we were particularly interested to hear from parents and their children about their priorities."ADNFCR-1222-ID-801820165-ADNFCR
