Ringwood may offer retirement joy

The Hampshire town of Ringwood may be the ideal destination for those looking to retire in a quiet and traditional English location.

There is plenty of property for sale in Ringwood that could suit all budgets and therefore anyone considering downsizing should certainly investigate further.

Around 12,000 people live in the town and it has a rich heritage that could appeal. The town hall is believed to date back to 1868 when it was built by John Morant. Even older than this, the Church of St Peter and St Paul may be traced back to the 13th century.

One of the great advantages of Ringwood is that it offers convenient access to shops and there are a number of supermarkets in the area so residents do not need to travel far to stock up on the basics.

Another advantage is the fact that Ringwood has its own brewery. The Ringwood Brewery produces a variety of beers and they regularly host tours of the building for those who want to find out more about the process. Established in 1978, its most popular beers include the interestingly named Old Thumper and Boon Doggle.

There is also plenty to do to ensure one stays healthy in retirement, with the nearby New Forest National Park offering a whole host of great routes to explore. The park also has miles of cycle paths that vary in length and challenge.

Sailors will also be pleased to discover the town has its own sailing club called the Spinnaker Club, based on Blashford Lake - around one mile from the town's centre.

For those who prefer indoor pursuits, the local leisure centre has a sports hall, swimming pool and there are a number of different exercise classes that are aimed at all ages and abilities.

Ringwood is also well located with good transport links. The town has a regular rail link to other places nearby, including Southampton and other major conurbations that offer a wide range of additional facilities.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801727588-ADNFCR
