Rental market soars in face of declining property market

Despite the slowed down property market, the renting market is enjoying a period of strong growth.

Estate agents are reporting an increase in consumers choosing to rent after being priced out of buying a home, meaning landlords with flats to rent in Bournemouth are seeing increased profit.

The market has strived over the past few years and demand consistently outstrips supply, making for a glorious property landscape for landlords.

Caroline Kavanagh, Group Lettings Director for Townends Estate Agents, said: "Landlords are in the driving seat and do have the opportunity to shop around for the best agent or management company and the best tenants.

"However, with a thriving yet unregulated market come an increased number of people looking to cash in on it, so landlords should remember service levels and price usually come hand in hand."

The government has been encouraged to take into account recommendations made in the 2008 Rugg report into the residential lettings industry.
