RLA: Landlords should check white goods

Landlords are being urged to check white goods to ensure they safe following the Grenfell Tower fire.

The Residential Landlords Association (RLA) is reminding landlords to double-check any white goods they provide to clients met current guidelines and have not been subjected to a manufacturer recall.

Police have confirmed the fire in London was started by a faulty Hotpoint FF175BP fridge freezer and owners of similar appliances are being asked to contact Whirlpool for further advice.

Landlords should check all appliances and the RLA is advising the use of registermyappliance.co.uk which allows users to register white goods.

Business Minister Margot James has also confirmed she has contacted trade associations representing all major household appliance manufacturers outlining the government’s expectations surrounding faulty appliances.

Any tenants with concerns should contact their landlord or call the Citizens Advice consumer service line on 03454 040506 or a special government helpline on 0300 1231016.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801837311-ADNFCR
