Property prices continue acceleration in July

The price of properties for sale in the UK throughout July rose by 0.9 per cent to continue the current wave of good sentiment in the sector, it has been reported by Halifax.

The lender said that since May, the price of homes across the UK has risen by a total of 2.1 per cent, and that this has left prices a full 4.6 per cent higher than in the same three-month period a year ago.

Overall, this has left the price on average at £169,642 thanks to the fastest annual rate of price growth at any point in the UK since August 2010, giving further evidence that the UK is returning to continued strength in terms of the property market at the moment.

The lender's housing economist Martin Ellis said: "Greater confidence is likely to have underpinned the increase in housing demand. Official schemes, such as the Funding for Lending Scheme and the Help to Buy equity loan scheme, may also be raising demand."ADNFCR-1222-ID-801622213-ADNFCR
