Property for sale in Newport 'may receive boost from business investment'

Property for sale in Newport, South Wales could be set for a major boost in demand, if the city can realise its development potential.

The city is currently being promoted heavily as a great business location, comparable with Cardiff or Swansea.

However, a leading property consultant believes that more needs to be done to encourage growth and potentially boost property for sale in Newport.

Dan Smith, director of commercial property advisers at M4 Property Consultants, told the Western Mail: "We must try to attract more industrial companies to the area, not purely rely on the service sector.

"By doing so, we can broaden the range of employment opportunities and not become overly reliant on office occupiers such as the public sector or the service sector."

Bristol has seen a marked interest from investors after it was established as one of the UK's enterprise zones.

Mr Smith believes that Newport should target a similar status award, should the scheme be extended to include Wales. ADNFCR-1222-ID-800600899-ADNFCR
