Property for sale in Bath now more budget-friendly?

Buyers viewing houses for sale in Somerset may find their new home is now more affordable.

Figures from Nationwide have revealed that house prices fell by 0.2 per cent in April.

The bank's house price index shows that the cost of a typical home is now 1.3 per cent lower than one year ago, at £164,751, which may help first-time buyers to secure property for sale in Bath.

Robert Gardner, chief economist for Nationwide, says prices may soon rise at the economic recovery continues.

He explained: "Household budgets remain under pressure, but labour market conditions have shown a modest improvement in recent months.

"Together with continued low interest rates, a gradual improvement in the labour market should help to provide support for housing demand."

Demand for houses for sale in Bath may rise as a result of an ongoing regeneration scheme.

The Bath Western Riverside project, which began in December 2010, has created jobs in the city, the Guardian reports.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800519430-ADNFCR
