Private rental 9% cheaper than student accommodation

Private rental 9% cheaper than student accommodation

People who have children, and are looking to rent property for them when they are away at university during term time will probably automatically look towards the university's own accommodation as the most viable option.

However, according to one expert, renting privately can be cheaper for students, this is despite the fact that LSL Property Services reported last week that private rental prices had gone up for the ninth month in a row in October, across the UK.

Jonathan Moore, director of Easyroommate.co.uk, said that people looking for property to rent in London will find that private rental accommodation is nine per cent cheaper in university towns than the institutions' own flats and halls of residence.

"As fees rise, we anticipate that in many university cities – especially London - savvy students and their parents will be looking to save money on costs, and moving into more affordable flatshares," he added.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801223546-ADNFCR
