Prices of houses for sale in London have gone up, report says

The prices of houses for sale in London have risen over the last year, a report has shown.

A recent survey from Cluttons has revealed that year-on-year figures indicate prices of properties to buy in the capital have risen by 5.9 per cent.

It also showed that despite this rise, over the last quarter of 2010 values of property in the city dropped by 0.2 per cent.

Head of Cluttons' residential professional division Andrew Stanford said: "Only properties in prime locations or those with a unique selling angle were receiving real interest from potential purchasers."

Despite the decline over the last three months - the first since March 2009 - values rose by 0.9 per cent during the second quarter of 2010.

Figures from the Land Registry's House Price Index also indicated a rise in property values, revealing that between July and August houses for sale in the UK increased in price by 0.3 per cent. ADNFCR-1222-ID-800101712-ADNFCR
