Price of houses for sale in UK 'to remain same'

The value of properties for sale in the UK is expected to remain the same over the next 12 months, according to one-third of consumers.

Rightmove has released a consumer confidence survey, which found that 36 per cent of people think property values will stay consistent over the next year, while 32 per cent believe prices will fall.

The property website reported this time last year that only one in ten thought house values will drop in the same time frame.

Director of Rightmove Miles Shipside said: "It's unusual to see such a split, but it shows that current economic uncertainty is forcing people to take sides in their view of the housing market."

Only five per cent of those surveyed admitted they had no idea whether prices will rise, fall or stay the same.

Earlier this month, Rightmove's October House Price Index revealed that the average house price had risen over the month, with sellers increasing values by 3.1 per cent from September 2010.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800155775-ADNFCR
