Plans for new Cardiff properties provide a boost for house-hunters in the area

Estate agents as well as those looking for property for sale in Cardiff will be pleased to hear about the new Barratt homes development in the city.

Barratt purchased The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff's (UWIC) Colchester Avenue campus and plans to build 76 family homes on the site.

Mike Rees, head of Cardiff development and residential consulting at BNP Paribas Real Estate, said: “Due to low levels of land supply in Cardiff we experienced an exceptional level of interest. The site is especially well located close to an established residential area and will create a desirable new community close to Cardiff city centre."

"The sale also signals a positive sign for the housing market which is now gradually beginning to recover."

All students previously taught at the campus before the sale have transferred to UWIC’s main site at Llandaff, where a new £20 million School of Management building has been opened.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800707120-ADNFCR
