Oxford suburb offers possibilities

Oxford suburb offers possibilities

The city of Oxford has long been popular with families, students and couples but prices within the centre have been increasing in recent years.

However, the suburbs of the popular university city could still offer an ideal relocation destination for people looking to balance work and leisure.

With plenty of property for sale in Headington, the small area could be the perfect home for those who need to commute into Oxford for work.

Headington is perhaps more famous for its unique sculpture. The Headington Shark was created in 1986 and involves a house with a shark sticking out of the top of the roof. It was produced by artist John Buckley to reflect the stresses involved with day-to-day life.

There is little doubt that it puts Headington on the map and it is well liked by many residents who feel it brightens up their day when they drive past.  Locals have also planned annual street parties to mark the shark's birthday.

Other community events include a music festival in August and a local sports fair towards the end of summer.

The town also has plenty of great local attractions, which means it is not always necessary to journey into Oxford on a regular basis to pick up the basics or enjoy a day out.

There are a decent number of pubs, cafes and restaurants located around the town, perfect for a quiet afternoon drink or a special treat at the weekend.

Headington is also home to some green spaces that residents enjoy. Both Headington Hill and Bury Knowle parks are located in the town, and are perfect for an invigorating stroll.

Walkers looking for a more challenging walk should consider ramblers visiting Shotover Hill, a nearby heath which provides fantastic views over the local countryside.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801724406-ADNFCR
