New properties to be created in London

The capital is to see the creation of a considerable number of new homes, it has been revealed.

In a development which may be welcomed by those seeking property for sale in London, Balfour Beatty is to redevelop the Wornington Green Estate for Kensington Housing Trust.

As part of a £65 million contract, the firm - which has roots tracing back to 1909 - will build 324 new residences.

Some of these will be for affordable allocation, but 45 per cent will be on open market sale.

Commenting on the deal, chief executive Ian Tyler said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this project and look forward to working with the Kensington Housing Trust in partnership with local stakeholders to enhance the Wornington Green area for the community."

Its plans are part of an overall scheme for the area which will see the creation of 1,000 dwellings, plus commercial space.
