New Somerset homes get renewable energy boost

House hunters on the lookout for property for sale in Somerset could see any energy bills received slashed after local housing developer Alliance Homes agreed a two-year contract with solar panel supplier LCX Solar.

A number of houses in the region will benefit from the £10 million investment which is expected to see 1,200 photovoltaic solar panel installations take place. LCX Solar will also supply other authorities in the area as part of the deal which could cut thousands of energy bills around the region.

South West law firm Ashfords LLP helped advise on the deal, estimated to be worth up to £440 million.

George Wilkinson, a partner in Ashfords' corporate and commercial team, said: "Solar PV is a rapidly growing industry and the potential for projects such as this is enormous."

LCX is a consortium comprising of British firm Low Carbon Exchange Limited and international companies Aleo Solar Deutschland GmbH and Tigo Energy Inc.
