NLA makes tenancy recommendation document available to all

The National Landlords Agency (NLA) has made its documentation containing best practice recommendations available to all UK buy-to-let owners.

Previously, only members could access these details, but the organisation has now made them free to view as a way to improve landlord and tenant relationships across the country.

It comes as some councils consider licensing of owners as a way to monitor and deal with malpractice in the private rented sector.

The documents released by the NLA also now contain information and advice on how budding landlords can be aware of their legal obligations before entering the market.

This includes such issues as essential maintenance, insurance and details of the tighter restrictions on fire and gas regulations on homes of multiple occupancy.

David Salusbury, NLA chairman, said: "Letting property is a big responsibility. Landlords are dealing with people’s homes, a whole raft of housing legislation and day to day maintenance. It is essential that they know what they are doing before they dive in and that they comply with the law and best practice once they do."ADNFCR-1222-ID-801606628-ADNFCR
