More people are seeking mortgage advice on houses for sale

There has been an increase in the number of people seeking mortgage advice, a report has revealed.

According to professional advice website unbiased.co.uk, there was a 24 per cent increase in the number of consumers looking for advice on loans to help them buy houses for sale in the first half of 2010.

The quantity of enquiries received during the first six months of 2009 was 36,000, while this figure rose to 45,000 the following year.

Chief executive at unbiased.co.uk Karen Barrett said that these findings indicate good signs for the property market.

"We believe that the tumultuous period we have been through have led to more people seeking expert advice on their mortgages rather than going it alone," she commented.

As well as a rise in the number of people seeking mortgage advice, there has also been an increase in how much money was lent to prospective homebuyers in June.

According to Council of Mortgage Lenders' figures, mortgage lending rose by 15 per cent to £13.1 billion last month, compared with the same period the previous year.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800005555-ADNFCR
