Make the move to Manchester

If you're looking for a change of scenery, a move to the north-west could be just what you're after - if you don't already live there, that is.

While there's no definitive second city in the UK, Manchester has long held a claim to this crown. In fact, the 2011 census showed it was the fastest growing city outside London, with a population rise of 19 per cent.

So, if you fancy jumping on the bandwagon, you'll find property for sale in Manchester that could be the start of a new era for you.

Manchester is a hotbed of culture and history. With numerous art galleries and museums, you can happily wile away your Saturday afternoons at places such as the Whitworth Art Gallery, the Museum of Science and Industry - commonly known as the MOSI - or the Imperial War Museum.

It goes without saying that football is one of the city's greatest attractions. With powerhouses Manchester United and Manchester City fighting for bragging rights, you'd be wise to pick a side quickly and stick with them, through thick and thin. Additionally, there's the National Football Museum for you to peruse to your heart's content.

Music is also something that Manchester is renowned for. With numerous gigs, open mic nights and clubs, you'll be sure to find a venue that caters for your preferences, no matter how quirky or retro they are.

Education wise, the city is remarkably strong. A plethora of primary and secondary schools are available, while Manchester boasts the greatest number of students in Europe with its various universities. In fact, the University of Manchester is the UK's largest single-site university, with Manchester Metropolitan University close behind in terms of size.

Transport wise, you're spoilt for choice if you're commuting into the city or just sight-seeing. With trains, trams and buses, you can easily travel to work or friends' houses. There's even a free shuttle bus, meaning you can access all the main stations, car parks and shopping areas in the city centre without paying a penny.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of a city that's full of things to do. Explore the Northern Quarter, which is Manchester's answer to Shoreditch, or enjoy a panoramic view of the north-west from the Hilton's very own Cloud 23 bar - the possibilities are endless. ADNFCR-1222-ID-801711743-ADNFCR
