Make houses for sale in Oxfordshire 'greener' to save money

Buyers moving into property for sale in Oxfordshire can take a few simple steps to make their homes greener and cut down their energy bills.

Insulation is key to improving energy efficiency in rural properties, according to UK Energy Saving.

The organisation notes that grants are available for loft and cavity wall insulation to help homeowners retain heat in their homes in the countryside.

However, some rural homes, such as houses for sale in Oxfordshire, may have solid walls.

Hayley Jones, web marketing director for UK Energy Saving, explained: "There are currently no national grant schemes for solid wall insulation, which can be internal or external, but it is worth checking with local authorities for localised schemes."

Double glazing and draught proving can also make homes more energy efficient, she added.

Life expectancy in Oxfordshire is four years higher than it was 20 years ago, the Oxford Mail reports.

Residents in the Vale of the White Horse were found to have longer life expectancies, highlighting the health benefits of rural living.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800580228-ADNFCR
