London street is Britain's most expensive

Britain's most expensive streets are, rather unsurprisingly, almost fully concentrated on London and the surrounding area, according to new data released by Lloyds TSB.

The popular area of Kensington and Chelsea, a haven for the rich, has seven of the top ten streets where property for sale in London is most expensive.

However, the street with the highest property price in the country on average is Holland Park, just around the corner from Kensington Palace, where the average property costs £4,863,000.

Suren Thiru, economist at Lloyds TSB, said: "This part of London has always had a glamorous reputation, attracting buyers from the business and entertainment world, and more recently the super-rich from across the world."

He added that good schools and shops meant that the area was popular.

Scotland mirrored England, as most of the most expensive streets in the country were centred around the capital, Edinburgh, where Dick Lane was named as the most expensive street.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801251635-ADNFCR
