Location, location, location remains top priority

Where a property is remains the top reason buyers opt to purchase a new home, claims recent research.

According to a conveyancing firm, 56 per cent of Brits buy a home because of the top three reasons - location, price and garden.

The survey from Home Move found 58 per cent felt location was the major reason for buying, followed by 37 per cent who were tempted because of the price and 29 per cent feel in love with the garden.

Further down the list, 40 per cent said nearby transport links were crucial, while 32 per cent wanted their new home to be near to shops, cafes and restaurants.

"For most people, location is the secret ingredient that makes them fall in or out of love with their home. People also love a bargain, which explains why cost was the second most important factor in making someone fall in love with their home," said Doug Crawford, chief executive officer of My Home Move.

He added: "As house prices continue to climb and many first time buyers struggle to take their first step onto the property ladder, younger buyers are more willing to scout out up and coming areas to try and find a bargain to fall in love with."

The research found women were more likely to opt for a home that was closer to family compared to men, but both felt moving near friends was equally important.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801811694-ADNFCR
