Landlords to invest in more houses to rent in London?

Buy-to-let investors are looking to expand their portfolios to boost their yields, it has been claimed.

Demand for property for sale in London and across the UK is rising due to landlords recognising that it is a good time to buy, according to Property and Finance Solutions (PFS).

The property investment firm claims investors are becoming more proactive with their rental offerings.

Darren Owen, director at PFS, claims that landlords who had one or two properties on the sidelines have gone out of the market.

He explained: "The traditional armchair investment style where they buy a city centre apartment and they just stick a tenant in and sit on it for five years has gone out of the window now."

Those with portfolios of ten properties or more are looking to expand, he added.

Increased demand for houses to rent in London has resulted in a rent rise of 7.8 per cent in the past year, LSL Property Services has revealed.

May saw the average rent in England and Wales rise to £696 per month, a record high following four successive months of increases.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800604086-ADNFCR
