Landlords optimistic about returns

UK landlords are expecting demand from tenants to rise over the coming year, claims a new report.

A quarterly trend study from Paragon Mortgages shows 41 per cent of landlords are optimistic about the outlook for their property investments, with a five per cent rise in the number who are expecting more people to look at renting as the property market 'hots up'.

There was more confidence among larger-scale landlords but it shows a growing return to form for the buy-to-let sector - welcome news for estate agents and letting agents.

"We have seen a steady improvement in confidence among landlords over the past year as the housing recovery has gathered pace,’ said John Heron, managing director of Paragon Mortgages.

"Whilst market data would suggest that we are a long way from boom territory, this optimism among landlords is key to maintaining balance in the housing market and in ensuring that renters have more choice," he added.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801717410-ADNFCR
