Landlords keen to keep tenants happy

Many landlords want to keep their tenants happy as competition for the best renters heats up.

A survey from Endsleigh concluded 90 per cent of landlords believe they have gone out of their way to make tenants feel welcome, while 41 per cent feel they have done all they can to ensure happy tenants.

The majority of tenants (83 per cent) involved in the poll said they were happy with their current landlords.

Landlords also felt it was important to ensure the property has been professionally cleaned before a new tenant moves in, with 28 per cent saying they would redecorate if a tenant wanted them to do so.

Meanwhile, tenants felt a working Wi-Fi connection was important, although many renters did express concern that the government was not doing enough to potentially protect them from unscrupulous landlords.

Landlords believed damage to property and poor tenants were their biggest concerns, with a further 19 per cent worried about having their property vacant for long periods of time.

“Despite their ongoing differences about who is treated more fairly, tenants are showing more authority than they previously did and expecting more too. It’s obvious that landlords are doing what they can to create the best accommodation possible,” said David Hadden, head of property at Endsleigh Insurance.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801819819-ADNFCR
