Landlords: check insurance for property to rent in Manchester

Buy-to-let investors with houses to rent in Manchester need to ensure their property insurance is suited to their needs, it has been claimed.

Landlords need to ensure their policy documents are kept up to date, according to the Business Octopus.

The business insurer warns that buy-to-let policyholders need to check they disclose the type of tenancy they are managing.

Daniel Jewell, senior sales manager at the company, explained: "Some people might say, 'I think they are professionals', but if they then find out that they have DSS [housing benefit] or students in there, then the insurance might not pay out."

Policies should be checked with every new tenant that moves in, he added.

Property to rent in Manchester could soon see increased demand as a result of a new construction project.
