Landlord advice for houses to let in Sussex

Landlords could benefit from advice from housing minister Grant Shapps about how to improve the housing sector via property to rent in Sussex.

In a live web chat for the Guardian, Mr Shapps was asked what three tips he would give to registered social landlords and housing associations to improve the housing sector.

He said landlords should be ambitious about the opportunities offered by the Affordable Rent scheme – fixed tenancy schemes that charge rent of up to 80 per cent of the local market rate.

In addition, he said landlords should find ways to meet "aspirations" of tenants, and to be transparent in businesses.

More support for landlords with houses to rent in Sussex was offered at a recent forum run by Mid Sussex District Council.

The Forum for Private Landlords, held on March 14, featured guest speeches about the impact of changes to housing benefits, the government's Green Deal, and offered support to improve the county's rental market.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800482878-ADNFCR
