Ipswich: Balances culture with location

Ipswich is one of the most popular towns in Suffolk and could offer people the perfect mix of culture and facilities.

Located at the mouth of the River Orwell, the town was once of the country's main industry and commerce centres but in recent years has become much more appealing to families and young people.

Property for sale in Ipswich offers real choice and includes some waterfront homes, as well as real estate aimed at both growing families and retired people.

There are also a large number of facilities for residents, with many high street brand shops having branches in the area, as well as lots of independent stores occupying retail space in Ipswich's streets.

It also has a strong reputation for creativity with galleries being based at Christchurch Mansion, Town Hall and Electric House, while the New Wolsey Theatre offers the chance to watch some live productions.

There are also regular markets held that sell food and craft from the local region.

London is just an hour away and there are regular services to the capital running from Ipswich Railway station. Those who prefer to drive will enjoy the close proximity of the A1 and M11 providing access to the rest of the UK.

Anyone who needs to travel abroad for work or those wanting to take a family holiday abroad will be pleased to discover the nearby Harwich offers ferry connections to Holland, while Stansted Airport is around an hour's drive away.

Families will also enjoy that Ipswich is close to many local coastal beauty spots and seaside towns, such as Southwold, Aldeburgh and Felixstowe.

Sporting fans could also be tempted to sign up to a season ticket to watch the local football club - Ipswich Town.

Established in 1878, the club currently plays in the Football League Championship at the 30,000 capacity stadium at Portman Road.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801699069-ADNFCR
