Increase in rental prices could continue throughout 2013

The cost of renting a buy-to-let property in the UK is set to rise throughout 2013, meaning that those who are operating as landlords will continue to see good conditions for earning over the next few months.

According to the latest figures released by Move With Us, there was an increase in rents across England and Wales of 1.9 per cent throughout the whole of 2012, culminating in an overall rise of £37 on average.

However, there were drops in November and December, as prices peaked thanks to an increase in supply. It could also be said that the festive period sees a drop in the number of people looking to move.

Brits settling into a new year are set to reverse this trend though, and the firm expects to see another good year ahead for this market.

Robin King, director of Move with Us, said: "The underlying value and return from rental properties has been robust during 2012, in marked contrast to the poor returns gained from personal savings," he said, giving a reason for the number of people moving into the sector.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801519133-ADNFCR
