For example, 55 per cent of the property valuers consulted advised removing clutter from the home to increase chances of a fast sale for a good price.

In contrast, 69 per cent homeowners polled believed cleaning the windows would be beneficial, compared to only 39 per cent of the property experts asked.

While 65 per cent of valuers suggested repainting or varnishing a front door would benefit property for sale in Kings Norton, only 26 per cent of homeowners registered the idea.

Stuart Beattie, head of mortgages at HSBC, said: "It is often the small, last-minute jobs like painting the front door that can make all the difference. First impressions really do count."ADNFCR-1222-ID-800522915-ADNFCR
