Houses for sale in Tunbridge Wells set for popularity boost?

An influx of homebuyers could soon be viewing property for sale in Tunbridge Wells after a local manor house was chosen as England's Favourite House for the south-east region.

The prize, awarded by Country Life Magazine, could spark a surge in demand for houses for sale in Sussex, known for its pleasant climate and natural beauty.

Groombridge Place, a manor house with its own moat in Tunbridge Wells, was described as "a model of perfection" by judging panel member Annabel Astor.

She said: "Its history and beauty are mesmerising, the setting is magical and it is an ideal home for intimate family life."

"It’s an oasis for all seasons and future generations."

Built in 1662 by Philip Packer, the house sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and boasts 17th century formal gardens.

Often used as a film location, the property recently featured as Longbourn Manor in Joe Wright's adaptation Pride and Prejudice.

Savills, who sponsored the awards, said the manor house was an "exquisite" example of careful preservation.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800490271-ADNFCR
