Houses for sale in Somerset: superfast broadband bid launched

Property for sale in Somerset could soon become more popular if the local authority manages to bring next generation broadband to the county.

Somerset County Council is calling for residents and businesses to back its joint bid with Devon County Council for funding to deliver superfast internet connections.

Funding from the government's Broadband Delivery UK scheme could boost demand for houses for sale in Devon as well as Somerset properties.

A short survey has been launched at connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk for residents to share their views on internet issues in their counties and register their need for faster speeds.

Leader of Somerset County Council, councillor Ken Maddock, says it is important that residents get behind the two councils.

He explained: "This bid is crucial for the future growth of Somerset's economy.

"Superfast broadband will ensure all businesses, urban or rural, remain competitive and it will open up new markets for them."

Southill House, in West Cranmore, Somerset, was recently named England's Favourite House for the South West Region.

The accolade, awarded by Country Life magazine, could also contribute to boost in demand for houses for sale in Somerset.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800499192-ADNFCR
